Vinted Members Express Displeasure About Sizing Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
