The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, donated by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and rooted in traditions that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
