19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
