Outrage as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The motive behind the shooting has not been established and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement said that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site managing the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities said.
Security camera video showed a individual with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been tracking them to find their whereabouts," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, expressed the family was struggling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," she stated.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about topics not many people were ready to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the citizens to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, especially for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
