Individuals of an Italian family of thieves who took over £1.2m worth of goods, among them from ex- Newcastle United striker Isak, have been mandated to return just £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their female sibling Jela and her son Charlie journeyed to the northeastern of England to burgle three houses in spring 2024.

The group of four were imprisoned for between six and 10 years in 2025.

At a criminal assets hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Jela and the Nikolov brothers were instructed to pay back £1 each while Charlie must hand over over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Burglaries

The court previously heard the gang arrived by boat in the United Kingdom on 27 March 2024 and employed a campervan as their "base of operations", which they stationed at a service area and Durham service service stations while using another car to search for properties and execute thefts.

On March 31 they stole over £1m of items including designer clothing, purses, jewellery and a honor from a residence on Clayton Road in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were away.

The next evening, the crew entered a home on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, and took luxury bags, valuables and footwear valued at over one hundred thousand pounds.

Following surveillance of the football club's facility for two days, they then struck at the home of Sweden player Alexander Isak in Darras Hall, Ponteland on April 4, stealing £10,000 in cash, £68,000 worth of jewellery and the striker's £120,000 Audi RS6.

The group, who were described by prosecutors as professional touring burglars, used hand coverings and face coverings, switched their phones on silent as they approached their targets and strapped a number plate, which had been taken from a auto shop in a town, on to their car with rubber straps.

They were arrested in the Birmingham area on 13 April.

Court Proceedings and Rulings

Valentino had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to burglary but was found guilty by jurors, while his family members had all submitted guilty pleas to the identical accusation.

At the criminal gains session, prosecutor the prosecution said every one of the burglars had profited from their offenses to the amount of £1,266,285.93, which was based on what the affected parties said they had had stolen.

But Charlie was the only one deemed to have any funds that could be "realised", specifically over a thousand pounds which had already been seized by police, the judge heard, with 14 days to be served in prison if he defaulted.

The other three had no assets or property so were ordered to make a nominal fee of £1 each, with one week in incarceration the result if the sum was not paid.

Judge Spragg said if they were discovered with assets in the coming years, "such as operating in Italy in a fast car or possessing a home", prosecutors could initiate new proceedings to "satisfy the sum due".
