Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 charges include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
