Followers Demand Arrest of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are urging that a man who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further response on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of last year in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, winning several for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
