Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
